Munnar is an awesome and splendid tourist destination for anyone who is looking for a tourist and vacation destination in India. India is vast country with people of diverse cultures and traditions. Munnar in itself is also quite large and vast with many towns like Mattupetty, Pothamedu, Attukal, Nyayamakad, Lock Heart Gap, Rajamala, Chithirapuram and Eravikulam which has a national park called Eravikulam National Park.
In Mattupetty, you can be rest assured that you will find highly specialized dairy farms and also the indo-swiss livestock project. The weather in Mattupetty is cool and wet that’s why you will find many dairy farms that are very high yielding. Mattupetty also has a lake and a dam, near the dam and lake you can find a very beautiful picnic spot. Idukki provides boating facilities on the Kundala lake.
Pothamedu offers exquisite view of cardamom, coffee and tea plantations in Munnar. It also offers breathe taking and mind blowing scenery of the lush mountain and rolling hills. On this mountain and hill you can easily have long mountain walks and treks. Generally, the weather in Pothamedu is hot and wet. Most of the times the weather is conducive for picnics and outdoor activities.
If you really want a feast for your eyes, visit Attukal in Munnar. It has magnificent rolling hills and waterfalls. Attukal is also perfect for long treks.
Most of the tourist destinations and vacation spots in Munnar have breathe taking waterfall spots and Nyayamakad is included. Nyayamakad is located ten kilometers from Munnar. The waterfalls in Nyayamakad cascade down a hill from a height of 1600 meters. The waterfall enchanting surroundings provide exquisite trekking points and picnic spots.
Chithirapuram is the oldest tourist destination in Munnar judging from the architecture of the buildings around. You can find the Pallivasal Hydel Power Project in Chithirapuram. It is also known for its picturesque tea plantations.
Another beautiful town in Munnar is Rajamala whose natural habitat is 2695 meters above sea level.
The habitat is of Niligiri tahr and you can find the rare mountain goat. Due to human encroachment this rare goat is fast becoming extinct. In the area, it is commonly called tahr and it can be found in small herds in Eravikulam- Rajamala region.
Lastly in Munnar is the Eravikulam National Park which is located 15km from Munnar. Inside the national park is the Anamudi peak that is 2695 meters long. The park was established to be a sanctuary for the tahr. It covers 97 square kilometers with high levels of evergreen forests and rolling grasslands. Eravikulam national park is beautiful and can be easily compared with the best mountain ranges in the world.
